My Faviote Music Video

I haven't chosen my favorite video here, iv decided to choose a video which i thought was unique and i loved; many music video's are a reflections of the artists life, their past experience or what they are currently going through however this video isn't just a reflection or an artist but a reflection of a poor countries that has been through hell and the music video is a reminder to them that 'they're not alone'.

The video was shot by acclaimed director Sophie Muller - the woman behind some of Gwen Stefani and Beyonce’s biggest videos. The clip includes scenes where Lewis visited Africa as part of the relief campaign as well as shots that were taken in Los Angeles. The song is the official song of charity Sport Relief for 2008. The single was released in the United Kingdom as a digital download on 9 March 2008, with a physical release on the following day, with proceeds going to the charity. The song has been remixed for the single release.

"Footprints in the Sand" is an adaptation of the Christian poem "Footprints". Cowell originally came up with the idea to base a song around the poem, and asked songwriting and production team David Kreuger and Per Magnusson whether they could write something dealing with this subject. They took the idea along to a songwriting session the pair already had scheduled with Richard Page at his home in Malibu and finished the song the following day. In an interview with HitQuarters, Magnusson said they had thought the song would be great for Westlife, but it was offered to Lewis. When Cowell mentioned the song concept to Lewis, she agreed that it could be "really quite interesting". Cowell secured a songwriting credit for coming up with the idea. Lewis describes the song as "very moving, with a very emotional lyric". The song is about "standing by someone and being there for people who need your help."

In most music video's, the artists wear quite a fare amount of make-up and has either dancing or an unique, over-exaggerating video, however in contrast this music video is quite the opposite, with close-ups and mid-shot's showing Leona's face clearly, we can gather that her make-up is too the minimal which connotes seriousness and nature. Throughout the music video, there are clips shown, only lasting about a second or two but its just enough time show show the audience what it is like in other countries and that they're lucky and should think and consider the less lucky, these clips show different emotions for example; a child crying connotes saddness and scared, a child walking over a huge rubbish pile with a bag hoping to find food connotes loneliness and perhaps family loss but in contrast of these there is also clips that show the 'good side' or at least better than it is for example; a child picking up a baby from middle of a busy road, no cars stopping to help but this young child show courage and love, familes and friends being reunited and a group of children holding hands together with smile, these three example supports the lyrics 'i promise you, i always there', these clips are also in black and white which could show that people can decide to either look on the bright side of things or dark, with the lyrics re-enforcing to look on the bright side.
